Skin must be cleansed frequently to avoid the build up of dirt. While there are no clear cut schedules to follow, choosing when you cleanse your face is just a matter of preference. Some people cleanse their face in the morning, some at night while others do so once in the morning and once at night. Cleansing the face in the morning is very refreshing and allows you to get a better "finish" if you have to apply make-up. On the other hand, cleansing at night allows you to remove all the dirt accumulated during the day and gives you the satisfaction of clean, smooth skin before heading to bed.
How often should you cleanse your face?
Your skin type will determine how often you should cleanse your face. For normal skin, it is adequate that you do this two to three times a day.
For oily skin and for those who are exposed to a lot of "grime and dirt" during the day, a more frequent cleaning is essential. At times, even four to five times a day may be necessary. Using either soap or some kind of cleansing agent.
On the other hand, if you have dry skin, it may be possible to harm your skin with too frequent cleansing. More so if you use very hot water. When you have dry skin, it is best to avoid too frequent washing. Choose a suitable oil-based cosmetic cleanser instead of soap as most soap has a drying effect on the skin.
How you clean your face is equally important. If the end of the day cleansing involves removing make-up as well as grime and dirt which have accumulated during the day, then you should definitely do a thorough job. The good news is if the night cleansing had been thorough, the morning session need not be too elaborate.
